< 3 > Volunteer Activity Report
-Volunteer Experience Session

What image comes to mind when you hear the word "volunteer"? ?
For someone else, for the community, and for yourself.
There are many different thoughts and forms of volunteering.

The prefecture holds "Volunteer Experience Sessions" as a place to experience such "volunteer" activities.
In this issue, we will report on the activities of the "Volunteer Experience Day," which will make you rethink about volunteering.
Foreign Language Guided Tour Experience @ Kashiwa City

On June 18 ( Sunday ), a volunteer experience session of "Foreign Language Guided Tour Experience" was held with the cooperation of Kashiwa Goodwill Guide Association !
.
Under the watchful eye of the brilliant sun, the tour started from Kashiwa Station. !
Volunteers were guided through various commercial facilities in English only, and they experienced the guided tour as a foreign tourist visiting Japan. The volunteers experienced being on the receiving end of a guided tour in a foreign language as a foreign visitor to Japan.

The Japanese culture, such as vending machines and Braille blocks, which are a part of daily life, are new to foreign visitors to Japan. He was very interested in the tour and some of the volunteers were taking notes with great enthusiasm. !

On the way to Chozenji Temple and Kashiwa Shrine, he explained about the unique Japanese culture and buildings such as red seals and the difference between temples and shrines which even Japanese people struggle to explain. The guide's demonstration at the hand-watering ceremony naturally drew applause and cheers from the audience.

In the afternoon, we took a bus to the Former Yoshida Family Residence Historical Park.
We had the precious experience of being guided in two languages, English by Mr. Iwatate and Japanese by a person from the Former Yoshida Family Residence Historical Park ! We were able to learn about the history in a deeper and more enjoyable way.

Although the number of foreign tourists visiting Japan had been decreasing due to the Corona disaster, recently the number of foreign tourists visiting Japan has been increasing and we have received many requests for guides.

Kashiwa Goodwill Guide Association is looking for foreign language guide volunteers throughout the year !
Why not take this opportunity to start "foreign language guiding" ? We are waiting for your application

\ Comments from participating volunteers /
・ It was a very valuable experience. Combined with Mr. Iwatate's character, I was able to learn how enjoyable guided tours in foreign languages can be. I would like to experience this tour in areas other than Kashiwa (e.g. Makuhari area). It would be good to have a foreigner join the tour.

・ Thank you very much for your help. I enjoyed participating in the experience. The chairman's personality and activities were wonderful. I am glad I took the plunge and participated. Thank you very much.
