There has been a sharp increase in the number of victims of investment and romance scams that abuse social networking services throughout Japan.
These scams are characterized by the fact that they are very sophisticated, such as demanding money after establishing a relationship of trust through multiple exchanges on SNS, and the amount of damage is often as high as several tens of millions of yen.

SNS-type investment scams
SNS-type investment scams involve the posting of false investment advertisements on the Internet, such as "We will definitely teach you how to invest your money," using the names and photos of famous people, or sending messages to lure people to LINE or other SNS sites, where they exchange a series of investment-related messages with the scammer. The scam is a scam to defraud a customer of money through online banking or other means under the guise of "investment money" or the like.
SNS-type investment romance scam
The scammers may meet each other through social networking services or matching applications, or they may send messages such as "nice photos" or "I am interested in Japan" on social networking services, and then continue exchanging messages on social networking services without actually meeting in person, which may lead to a feeling of familiarity or romance. The scam is to cheat the victim out of money in the form of travel expenses to Japan, money for a family member's surgery, or other expenses.
There is also a romance investment scam in which the victims are encouraged to purchase cryptographic assets or make fictitious investments, such as "let's invest and accumulate assets together for our future," after deepening the relationship by talking about something different than investment, and they are victimized in the same way as investment scams.

In addition, there have been many reports of automated voice calls from international phone numbers beginning with "plus" that deceive phone companies, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, etc., saying that the phone calls will stop in two hours, and calls from tax office employees claiming to be offering refunds for fixed tax breaks, etc.

If you receive a phone call, email, or social networking service that talks about money, it is a scam ！
If you receive a phone call that talks about money, never give money or transfer money, and immediately contact a family member or the police department.
